Week 2 Lockdown Learning

As week 2 in isolation has come to an end, I'm really missing seeing these doggies! Dogs are just the best.

I've also been reflecting on what I've learned this week:

1. People still won’t do what they are told and won’t keep the social distancing rule. It really is a simple rule to follow. After further measures were implemented on Friday, we thought there’ll be a lot less people on the roads and people would obey social distancing… Alas it was the same story, no single files etc. I just don’t know what to say anymore on it. Is this just a Dublin thing due to the population? I don’t know ☹

2. My screen time has shot up. I’ve never scrolled so much on Instagram, Facebook etc. I had to actively leave my phone in my room to stop from looking at it. It definitely increases my anxiety and just generally making me feel like I’ve wasted so much time scrolling, not feeling great at the end of the day. Also, I’ve never watched so much Netflix! This week will be different now, the phone will be locked up 😊

3. I’ve had loads of time to do the things I’ve been putting off. For example, I’ve been practising my guitar a lot. It’s made me remember how much I love it and puts me in a great mood after playing. I have the time to remind myself of the hobbies I shouldn't neglect.

4. Music is the cure. Sometimes I forget this. For me, music just makes everything feel better. Feeling down, or can’t concentrate throw on some uplifting tunes and you’re sorted!

5. Different ways of socialising. There’s some good down time to catch up with some people you haven’t chatted in a while. For me it’s made it easier to catch up with friends especially those who are abroad with the time difference making it easier to call. We did the houseparty app too which was a bit of fun and we were able to have drinks together, just virtually! 😊

What have you been up to for week 2 of isolation? Have you learned anything new?

Yeah, there is a lot of distractions on our phones and things that can cause anxiety. You’re right, we should utilise this time to focus on our hobbies and staying positive! 👍🏻
